I, H.M. Talbot transfers to C.S. Mayfield & J.W. Gary my entire water right of both the north and south branches of deep creek which is (1/2) on half of each branch. Henry M. Talbot. The water right conveyed by the above bill of sale is that which is taken from deep creek at the mouth of deep creek canon by a ditch on the north side of said creek.

Notes: SISKIYOU TRANSCRIPTION — WATER TRANSFER document. H.M. Talbot transferred half his water right on BOTH north and south branches of Deep Creek to C.S. Mayfield & J.W. Gary on Dec 21, 1867. Mayfield's description filed March 11, 1871 (earlier than the Dodson/Mayfield joint claim above). Austin Hawkins, Recorder (6th Siskiyou recorder name identified), by F.R. Hogeboom Deputy. Original from Vol 4 Mining Claims page 139. Certified by Eugene Dowling (Harry Lassen Deputy), Feb 4, 1911. Recorded in Modoc at request of Modoc Abstract Company, Feb 9, 1911. Water transfers this early (1867) are very unusual — shows active water market.
