KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That I, Chas Kirby Fox, of fort Bidwell, state of california, for myself, my successors and assigns, have located and appropriated, for domestic and irrigation purposes, fifteen thousand (15,000) miners inches of the waters flowing in deep creek, in Modoc county, california.

Notes: SURPRISE VALLEY PROJECT feeder claim #3 — LARGEST of Fox's feeder claims at 15,000 inches. Deep Creek diverted near CA-OR state line intersection. ENORMOUS canal specs: 20 ft bottom, 32 ft top, 4 ft deep. Water runs directly INTO Cowhead Lake, confirming Cowhead Lake as central reservoir for the entire system. Total canal distance 45 miles. Identical boilerplate to other Fox claims. Witness C.S. Eaton. Oct 5, 1911. Deep Creek is a major waterway heading from Oregon southward.
