NOTICE OF APPROPRIATION OF WATER. notice is hereby given that in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of California respecting water rights, the undersigned, has appropriated and hereby claims a total of thirty inches of water flowing in two separate streams.

TWENTY+ YEARS continuous use — 'claimed, used, owned and maintained by this claimant for the purposes... and his grantor for the period of more than Twenty years' — use since before 1895, likely inherited from previous owner ('his grantor').
