Know all men by these presents, that I John A. Free of Hot Spring Valley, Modoc County, California, have this day claimed all the waters flowing upon and from the Ranch Known as Wilson's Ranch, upon the swamp land claimed by me and described as part of the SE1/4 of Section [illegible] at Twp [illegible], R.11, Mt. Diablo Base and Meridian. Said water right to be established for the purposes of irrigation and each water to be located and used whenever and wherever needed. Dated May 22nd, 1875. Jno. A. Free.
