How to apply for a tree removal permit in Bend, Oregon

    Determine if your tree is regulated

    Trees at or above 8" DBH (diameter at breast height) are regulated. Protected tree: 8 inches DBH or greater for most species; juniper and native species have separate criteria. Tree retention required during development.

    Determine who must apply

    Eligible applicants in Bend: Property owner or authorized agent with arborist report.

    Prepare your assessment report

    Your assessment report must include: Tree inventory with DBH, species, condition, retention plan; high-desert species (Western juniper, ponderosa pine) and protected natives flagged separately under Bend Development Code Chapter 3.2. Required certifications: ISA Certified Arborist.
